DAY 1: ARRIVAL – HANOI (-/-/-)
When you arrive in HaNoi and check in at your hotel, you will take a short visit to Ha Noi Old Quarters with its 36 ancient streets and Hang Be market, a typical day market in Vietnam.
In the evening, you will experience an entertaining water puppet show, a traditional Vietnamese art form. Overnight in Ha Noi.
DAY 2: HANOI – LAO CAI (B/-/-)
After breakfast, you will visit the temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem lake, Ngoc Son temple and Ho Chi Minh complex, One Pillar pagoda. In the afternoon, you will leave for Bat Trang, also known as “ceramic village”. You will have the opportunity to observe artists creating ceramic vases and other products in their kilns. Remember to go behind the back of the ceramic shops and there will you find the kilns. You will be free at leisure until a car picks you up and takes you to Hanoi’s railway station for a night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on board of the train.
DAY 3: LAO CAI – SA PA – HIKE UP TO AN ELEVATION OF 2700M (B/L/D)
On arrival in Lao Cai, a tour guide will welcome you at the railway station and then you both will go to Sa Pa. When you reach Sa Pa, you will have breakfast at a local restaurant, take a short break and make some final preparations for the challenging hike. You will go by jeep or van to Tram Ton pass, which is 15 kilometers away from Sa Pa town. The climb will start by trekking through the rain forest along wild mountain streams. There then will be a break for a picnic lunch in the middle of the green forest whereafter you will climb until reaching the elevation of about 2700 meters at which we will pitch camp.
Local H’Mong porters will help you put up tents, start a small fire and prepare dinner. You will experience memorable moments when people share stories about their past journeys and cultural myths under the sparkling starts. Overnight in the tent.
DAY 4: SUBMIT AND CONQUER FANSIPAN MOUNTAIN (B/L/D)
At the first sight of daylight, you will have breakfast and make your last preparations for the day, the longest day of hiking to the summit of the Fansipan mountain. The first section is very steep and challenging as we will weave our way through the bamboo forests. At some points, we will be even forced to use ropes and
harnesses for our own safety. You will have the feeling of great rewarding and enjoyment once you stand on the top of Indochina and forget all about the hardships along the way. After a picnic lunch and a short break at the summit, you will begin our descent to the base camp. H’Mong porters will set up tents and prepare dinner while you clean off and refresh by the mountain stream. Spend the night under the stars with the satisfaction of a day of achievement. Overnight in the tent.
DAY 5: SA PA (B/L/-)
Upon leaving the base camp, you will begin walking downhill, back to Sa Pa town. The sheer trail is somehow arduous but we will have great opportunities to enjoy spectacular views along the way. After lunch, a bus will welcome you in Sin Chai village and take you back to Sa Pa town. Once arrived in Sa Pa, you will check in at your hotel and take a shower before resting. The rest of the time is free at leisure, a great chance for you to discover the town. Overnight in Sa Pa.
DAY 6: SA PA – LAO CAI (B/-/-)
After breakfast, you will be at leisure until going to visit Sa Pa morning market. You then will drop by two minority villages of the Black H’Mong people in Cat Cat village. Back to Lao Cai in the late afternoon for a night train to Hanoi. Overnight on board of the train.
DAY 7: HANOI DEPARTURE (B/-/-)
When you reach Hanoi, a car will pick you up and take you to the airport for the next destination. The arduous mountain tour ends here.
