Harnn Spa Danang won Asia’s Best Resort Spa 2016 Award

On 5th September 2016, HARNN Heritage Spa Resort of InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort became “Asia’s best Resort Spa” and “Vietnam’s best Resort Spa” at World Spa Awards 2016, Forte Village Resort, Italy. Ha Long Bay among Top 3 places to visit in Southeast Asia

The Touropia has listed 29 best places to visit in Southeast Asia. Ha Long Bay is ranked among top 3 attractions. In the same list, Viet Nam has other destinations namely Sapa ranked 27th, Hanoi ranked 25th and Hoi An ranked 15th position.

Emirates launches Dubai-Hanoi air route

Emirates Airline has officially launched a daily service from Dubai to Hanoi. The new flight will stop over in Yangon, Myanmar before arriving in Hanoi or Dubai. The service will expand Emirates’ network in Southeast Asia to 12 cities in 7 nations.

Vietjet Air new routes from Hai Phong to Seoul and Bangkok

Vietjet Air, a developing budget carrier in Vietnam, has opened 2 new international routes from Hai Phong city to Seoul, the Republic of Korea and Bangkok, Thailand. 9 flights depart from Hai Phong to Seoul on December 12 with 4 flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Hai Phong – Bangkok line operates every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Viet Nam has the best chocolate in the world

New York Times magazine has named Marou, a Vietnamese chocolate brand, as the best chocolate in the world. Its founders, Samuel Maruta and Vincent Mourou started their chocolate-making business with coffee beans hand-picked on Tan Phu Dong Island in Mekong Delta. They have won many awards ever since.

Ta Xua Clouds Hunting, Lao Cai, Vietnam

As one of the highest mountains in Vietnam, Ta Xua is an ideal place for tourists to have clouds hunting experience. You need to be there at the right time of the day in winter to catch cloud valley. To reach Ta Xua top, you can go by motorbike or public bus and then conquer a short stretch of road trekking. It is a real challenge to trek here. However, there are new roads leading to the mountain top to assist hiking.

Bamboo train, Cambodia

Bamboo Rail System, originated in Battambang, Cambodia has become a popular tourist activity. The train bumps 7km southeast to O Sra Lav along warped, misaligned rails and vertiginous bridges left by the French. Bamboo train speed is relatively slow, at 15 km/h. This is the main vehicle for surrounding inhabitants to transfer commodities and transport between destinations.

T’Nung Lake, Gia Lai, Vietnam

T’Nung Lake or Sea Lake is a freshwater lake located at the north of Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam. It is 900 meters above sea water level and named “the virgin pearl” of Pleiku. About: Tet is the time Vietnamese reunite with family members to celebrate new year and offer thanks to Gods for spring arrival.
Activities: Vietnamese often go shopping a lot to prepare for the new year. Streets are decorated vividly and there are many exciting street activities along with large countdown parties with firework. You can get yourself a Vietnamese calligraphy and lucky money, and enjoy traditional dishes.

Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival
Time: 2 Feb – Apr 2017
Place: Ninh Binh, Vietnam
About: The first Buddhist blessing festival of the year at ASEAN largest pagoda to mark the start of spring pilgrimages in the sacred land of Ninh Binh.
Activities: This festival begins with a ritual procession and burning incense to worship Buddha and others Saints. Later people go visiting nearby caves, temples sightseeing, and Cheo singing with Dinh Tien Hoang Emperor reciting ancient social rules.

Lim Festival
Time: 8-10 Feb 2017
Place: Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam
About: Lim Festival is an occasion for local people to get together in a religious ritual and join in cultural activities.
Activities: Localities gather and sing for their gods after a long procession. They then take part in various cultural activities like wrestling, weaving, and cooking contests. Love duet singing is the most anticipated part in which male and female singers ask and reply in Quan Ho melodies.

Le Cau Mua – Harvest prayers of the Dao
Time: 11 Feb 2017
Place: Yen Bai Province, Vietnam
About: A meaningful festival to pray for a good harvest, prosperity and happiness to Dao people.
Activities: Dao people in garish aboriginal costumes crowd in a wide open ground to carry out their unique ceremonies. After that, everyone enjoys participating in community activities. Exotic Dao traditional dances, music performances and folk games are highlights of Cau Mua festival.

Tet Nguyen Tieu
Time: 11 Feb 2017
Place: Nationwide, Vietnam
About: Tet Nguyen Tieu is for celebrating the first full moon of the year, worshipping ancestors and praying for good luck.
Activities: In this day, Vietnamese families prepare offering trays for worshiping. In the South, there are vibrant street parades with joyful people in fairy costumes carrying lanterns or flowers. Vietnamese poetry day or lion dance competition is also usually held on this occasion.

Meak Bochea Day
Time: 11 Feb 2017
Place: Nationwide, Cambodia
About: A special day to admire Buddha’s last sermon and remind his teachings.
Activities: Ceremony starts with Wien Tien procession in which people carry candles, incense sticks, and lotus flowers around a temple three times. In some places like Oudong Mountain, hundreds of monks gather to perform religious rituals. One can join in various traditional activities in some museums for this day.

VISA POLICIES

From August 25th, 2016, United States citizens traveling to Vietnam can only obtain 1 year-multiple entry visa. Other visa types are no longer available. Maximum permitted length of stay for each entry is 90 days and stamping fee of USD 135/person is applied accordingly.

Visa waiver policy for citizens of 5 European countries including Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain is extended by 1 year until 30 June 2017.
