Although the weather of Viet Nam from October to late March or early April is generally affected by the southeast monsoon, the detail weather of each part of the country is different. The north experiences cool, damp winters with temperatures in Ha Noi falling to around 15°C, extremely in mountainous north Highland areas, snow sometimes falls.February and March can be damp with drizzling rain and sometimes overcast sky.In contrast, the south tends to be very dry on this season. Temperatures average of this area is around 25-30°C all year with the hottest and most humid period from the end of February to May. Due to central location, the Central Part of Vietnam experiences something in between the weather patterns of the north and south with the rainy season in summer. The central coast area is usually quite wet from December to February. Highland areas can experience freezing conditions in winter. Ba Be Lake Spring Festival (01 - 02/02/2012 & 19 – 20/02/2013) 10th day of the 1st lunar month – The Ba Be Lake Spring Festival takes place in the village of Nam Mau Commune, Ba Be District. In the festival, the ethnic identities of the local are portrayed through numerous traditional games and competitions, such as wrestling, racing and dancing. The festival is a religious one that worships the super natural powers and prays for bumper crops and good weather. Chua Huong or Perfume Pagoda Festival (28/01 – 20/4/2012 & 15/02 – 09/05/2013) This is the biggest as well as longest festival in Vietnam. Chua Huong in Vietnamese or Perfume Pagoda Festival in Vietnam takes place in three months, starting from January to March every year. More than a million visitors from all over Vietnam attend Chua Huong or Perfume Pagoda Festival every year. The principal day is the 15th of the 2nd lunar month. During the Perfume Pagoda Festival, tens of thousands of tourists and pilgrims come to admire the beautiful landscapes and to pray for good luck, wealth and happiness in the several pagodas scattered throughout this mountainous area. Dong Da Festival (27/01/2012 & 14/02/2013) Dong Da hillock festival takes place annually on the 5th of Lunar New Year. This festival is organized in memory of the King Quang Trung's great merit - the hero in national history of anti - invaders. Two centuries ago, Dong Da was a battlefield where Quang Trung (Nguyen Hue), a Tay Son farmer who later became a National Hero defeated more than 200,000 soldiers of the Qing invading army. Dong Da Hill became a glorious historical site of the Vietnamese nation. In the early morning of the 5th day, a procession for the historical event's celebration commences at Khuong Thuong and ends at Dong Da Hill. The procession includes flags, a processional parasol, palanquins with a variety of colours, and the sounds of gongs and drums. In the festival there are a lot of games representing martial spirit. Among them, the procession of Thang Long dragon is most original. Co Loa Festival (28/01- 07/02/2012 & 06 – 25/02/2013) Annually held after Tet Holiday, Co Loa Festival pays homage to King An Duong Vuong who built the Au Lac Kingdom and the Co Loa Citadel to fight the battle against enemies in III B.C. Visiting Co Loa on the 6th of the 1st lunar month, you will have the opportunity to take part in Co Loa Festival organized by the 12 hamlets of the village. Taking place from the 6th to the 16th day of the Lunar New Year at An Duong Vuong temple in Dong Anh District, on the outskirts of Hanoi, Co Loa Festival based on the legend of An Duong King of Au Lac and his magic crossbow. Yen Tu Festival (31/01/2012 – 30/04/2012 & 18/02/2013 – 30/04/2013) Located in the Yen Tu mountain under the Yen Thuong communes, Uong Bi town, Quang Ninh province. Yen Tu Pagoda is the center of Buddhism in Vietnam. Yen Tu Festival commences annually on the 10th day of the first lunar month and lasts three months. Tens of thousands of pilgrims begin their journey after a solemn ritual held at the base of Yen Tu Mountain. The complex of historical sites and beauty spots in Yen Tu features various pagodas, shrines or stupas now appearing now disappearing under the thick foliage of the primary show their belief, or doing away with all sorrow and sadness. Long Tong festival (27/01 – 06/02/2012 & 14 – 24/02/2013) Time: Early in Spring, often from the 5th to the 15th day of the first lunar month. Long Tong Festival is the most important festival of New Year, associated with agriculture, held in the village to pray for the peace and prosperity. The festival was originated since many years ago. It is passed from generations to generations. Long Tong festival is annually held in Vinh Loc town, Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province on the 8th lunar January. The festival is held outdoor in a large field. Before the festival, families clean their houses, prepare food to welcome visitors. In the festival, each family prepares a tray as their possibilities. A bowl of water, a plate of red sticky rice, a plate of yellow sticky rice, a boiled chicken, grilled fish, etc are placed on the altar. Long Tong Festival is really a festival of charming cultural traits of Tay ethnic group. It is a chance for people to meet and exchange traditional cultural identity.

The initiative has supported and saw the participation of the Ambassador of Italy in Hanoi H.E Lorenzo Angeloni, the Vice president of the province of Hue and a large delegation of experts from Italy. From a tourist point of view, the principal moment was the boat trip around the lagoon at the factories of local fishermen and farmers. From a technical point of view, the international workshop on sustainable tourism promoted in collaboration with the FAO/IMOLA project held at the People of Hue and commits was no doubt the heart of the programme. The consensus in terms of participation in the initiative gained prominence on the national and local press, testify to the quality of the project promoted by EVIVA TOUR VIETNAM. The visit to the lagoon was the first of a series of sustainable tours under the project. Moc Chau : a district of Sonla Square: 2025,1 km² How to get there: Take a car or a local bus from Hanoi to Son La If you visit Vietnam from the middle of November until February, don’t forget to come to Moc Chau highland. That’s the best time for you to see all the most beautiful of nature there; and I’m sure you’ll never forget. Moc Chau, a district of Son La province, is about 200km from Hanoi. It takes more than 4 hours drive along National highway 6 with the dry winter that attracted many tourists. Moc Chau has more than 14.000ha of grass field and half of them are used to plant tea. All of the tea hills are side by side, endless to the end of the horizon. The cool wind in the late autumn make the tea fields become many green tea waves around you. You not only can see, but also can smell, can feel the real nature, the pure weather in deep of your soul. When you walk along the small road between each tea farm, you will meet many friendly local farmers. Some of them are H’Mong or Thai ethnic minorities. They will be very happy to tell you the stories about planting tea and teach you the way to collect tea’s leaves. After a working day in tea farm you can enjoy a cup of tea, the freshest tea that you’ve ever tasted. Moc Chau is so peaceful. But Moc Chau is not famous for tea. Milk is the most well-known product in this plateau. The breeding of dairy cows is the main job to improve economic conditions in Moc Chau. More than 486 households raise dairy cows, provide fresh milk, yoghurt and many other milk product for every other countries. From the middle of November, the tourist can see more colour in Moc Chau fields. Speacially is the yellow colour of the Mexican Sunflower. The wild sunflowers stand on the roadside like small suns to bring the warmth to everybody. Their beauty is so beautiful that almost the young people must waiting for the flower season to visit and take photos. When the mexican sunflower season is nearly end, the cabbage flowers are begin blooming. The small white flowers stand with the yellow flowers make wonderful lines to decorate the green fields. And in the trees the light orange of ripen persimmons are the highlights of the picture that you will miss forever. Arriving in Moc Chau in the spring, peach and plum blossoms are out in full, creating magnificent photo opportunities . Throughout the valleys, you can see plum flowers blooming whitening the blue sky. That’s the great background for all the H’Mong, Thai women’s colourful dresses. Visit the village, you will be amazed at the local culture. After the dinner with local food like black-legged chicken hotpot, you will have really interesting nights with Xoe, Sap – ethnic group’s dances and the folk songs. Not only is green field or impressed flowers, Moc Chau has many worth visiting caves, waterfall and brilliantly landscape.
